Diploma in Physiotherapy (DPT) in KLMU is a 3 year programme that offers a curriculum that is well rounded in all Key concepts and theories that apply to Physical Therapy modalities and rehabilitation procedures ethically. In the first year students will learn about the basics of the structure and function of Human body, Therapeutic Exercises & Modalities etc. In the second year emphasis will be given on clinical conditions and the Physiotherapy management mainly related to Musculoskeletal, Cardiorespiratory,Neuroscience,Womens health and Geriatrics. In the final year, students are posted to real life experience in various hospitals as a part of Practical training to achive minimum 1000 clinical hours with patients include individuals with disabling conditions such as lower-back pain, arthritis, heart disease, fractures,head injuries, neurological disorders, gynaecological ailments, cerebral palsy, post-surgical patients and accident victims etc. After this general experience many physiotherapists choose to practice in a specific area of interest in relation to the demand in the society.The physiotherapist may work with individuals, groups or agencies to help individuals achieve their optimal level of functional ability.

Career Prospects :

As a Physiotherapist they can work in a wide range of environments which includes,
• Hospital healthcare - out patients’ clinics, patients in hospitals, Women's health services such as ante and post natal care exercise.
• Work in special centers for people with disabilities
• Workplaces and industry (occupational health hazards)
• Special schools (support for children with special needs and parents)
• Orthopedic centers
• Neuro rehab centers
• Cardiac fitness centers
• Community rehabilitation centers
• Mental illness
• Nursing homes
• Voluntary organizations
• Fitness gym as a fitness instructor
• Run a private rehab centre or a clinic independently As a clinical instructor in colleges and universities
